Classes and Demonstrations in Prehistoric Technologies
Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park in collaboration with the Osceola National Forest will hold the 3rd Annual Gator-Knap-In, January 29-31, 2010.
This event will be an educational experience geared at bringing together professional and vocational archaeologists and those interested in prehistoric technologies. Demonstrations and classes in flint knapping, ceramics, cordage and carving of stone, shell, bone and wood will be held at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park. Vendors and exhibitors will have displays and materials for sale. THERE WILL BE NO BUYING OR SELLING OF AUTHENTIC ARTIFACTS. 3 - 7th Annual Live Oak Scarecrow & Fall Festival. The Live Oak Partnership, Live Oak Artists Guild and the Live Oak Garden Club are partnering for this community event. A pancake breakfast at 7:30 am at the Garden Club facilities. In addition to the breakfast there will be a plant sale and activities for children. 10 am downtown the Artists Guild will have artists, crafters, entertainment, food and other activities. The Partnership will have a Scarecrow contest and a make your own scarecrow. A Scarecrow Market Street yard sale, also a family fun Scarecrow 5k Walk/run along with a Scarecrow ride motorcycle parade and show. At Millennium Park festivities will continue into the evening hours.

30 - Downtown Trick or Treat / Costume Contest
Saturday, Oct. 30 marks the date for the annual Halloween Festival hosted by the City of Live Oak Police and Fire Departments. Many games and activities will take place at the Police Station on White Avenue. Festivities begin at 6:00pm. Beginning at 4:00pm children are being invited to visit the downtown community for trick or treating fun. At Veteran's Park a photo spot will be set up so parents can purchase photos of their little goblins and register them for the downtown Halloween costume contest and some hauntingly good prizes.
